KARACHI (PPI) - A female researcher, Farzana Panhwar was allowed on Saturday to live at local shelter home after police recovered her from illegal detention at private psychiatric hospital in Karachi.

Farzana, 53, widow of Muhammad Hussain Panwar, was found illegally detained at the hospital on July 21, 2010.

Karachis former District & Sessions Judge Zafar Ahmed Khan Sherwani addressed letter to District & Sessions Judge, Central, Karachi, Ms Soofia Latif, requesting to order recovery of Ms Farzana from illegal detention of private hospital under Section 491CrPC.

On July 21, DJ Ms Soofia Latif converted letter into habeas corpus application US 491CRPC, observing contents of letter is serious in nature. It directed SHO North Nazimabad police station to recover alleged detenue Ms Farzana Panhwar from psychiatric hospital and produce her on July 22, 2010.
